How to Choose Mezzanine Shelving
How to Choose Mezzanine Shelving
Selecting mezzanine shelving requires focusing on warehouse height, load-bearing requirements, cargo type, and manufacturer service capabilities, prioritizing alignment with the actual storage scenario. The following are specific selection strategies:
1. Mezzanine Shelving: Check if the Warehouse Meets the Conditions
Warehouse Clear Height: It is recommended to have a clear height of 4.5 meters or more to be suitable for building mezzanine shelving, with a minimum of 3-4 meters (allowing for two levels). Otherwise, the space will feel oppressive and hinder operations.
Floor Load-Bearing: Requires a concrete hardened floor. The load-bearing capacity typically needs to be 3-5 tons per square meter or higher. Professional inspection or evaluation using building drawings should be conducted before installation.
Fire Safety and Facilities: Plan the locations for fire sprinklers, lighting, and ventilation systems in advance to avoid obstruction or the need for secondary modifications after construction.
2. Load-Bearing Capacity: Select Structural Support Based on Cargo Weight
The main support structure of mezzanine shelving determines its load-bearing capacity. Selection should be based on the total weight of the cargo:
Medium-Duty Shelf Support: Suitable for scenarios with lighter total weight per level (e.g., small parts, stationery, electronic components). The mezzanine floor often uses cold-rolled steel sections or checkered steel plates.
Heavy-Duty Shelf Support: Suitable for items like automotive parts, heavily packaged industrial goods, etc. The uprights are thicker (e.g., 90×70×2.0mm), and the beams use H-beams or C-beams.
The load capacity per level of a unit shelf is typically within 500kg. The overall floor load-bearing capacity can reach 300–1000kg/㎡. Reinforced structures can be customized to meet higher demands.
3. Mezzanine Floor Panel Type: Choose Material Based on Usage Needs
The mezzanine floor panel is the "mezzanine ground," directly impacting safety and efficiency:
Cold-Rolled Steel Floor Panel: High load-bearing capacity, flat surface, easy to lock, suitable for manual cart operations. This is the current mainstream choice.
Steel Grating Floor Panel: Lightweight, good light transmission and ventilation, suitable for scenarios requiring natural light or storing lightweight, bulky cargo.
Checkered Steel Plate: Slip-resistant and wear-resistant, suitable for areas with frequent foot traffic, but heavier in weight.
